My friend Trevor at My Pink Zebra Boutique in Katy, TX asked me to make a few little sets for the shop. She has lots of girls' outfits and accessories, but said that she needed some things for baby boys. So, I got busy! I need to ship her about 10 sets by the first of next week, so I'm pretty focused right now on this project!
Apparently these little sets of appliqued onesies, with a matching burp cloth seem to be pretty popular. I had some of this great Michael Miller cowpoke fabric, with the matching horse shoes on blue and handkerchief paisleys on red, so I started by whipping up a couple of onesies with a cowpoke on a horse and another brave cowboy with his lasso and his faithful pooch.
Then I found some soft flannel for the backs of the burp cloths with a white background and primary color polka dots. Perfect match! And then with my bright blue doggie fabric and the bright yellow "woof" fabric with fire hydrants, I was having so much fun with this project. I finished the onesies with decorative stitching around the neckline, and used matching decorative stitching around the edges of each burp cloth.
I have three finished, and two more boys sets in process. Then I think I'll send her a few girls' sets, too, just because they are fun to make! I'm also thinking of making a few crib-size blankets to match, and maybe a couple pair of matching pants with coordinating cuffs on the pant legs. And perhaps I should make a matching twirl skirt for the girls' sets . . . . . . and a hat to match . . . . I guess this project could go on forever! Well, for today anyway, I hope to have some quiet time this afternoon to finish up the boys' sets, and maybe get started on the girls' sets. But I also have to make
time to work on the 37 Days Challenge Cards for that upcoming book - and I really want to finish up my altered book on the theme of gratitude for next week's Artella Creativity Challenge - and then there is the encrusted crazy quilt block that I have started for the Joggles online class. It's a good thing that I have so many projects going at the same time, because otherwise I would just make a million appliqued onesies and then what would we ever do with all of them? Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, count your blessings, and take time for yourself today!
these are so sweet! it is harder to find cute clothes for boys, but these are adorable. :-)
