I heard that over at Photo Hunters the theme this week is Red . . . . so I was wandering around my house looking for just the perfect "red thing" and here's what I found in one of my cabinets. I forgot it was there, but I bought it at a thrift shop last summer. The plan is to repaint our kitchen this winter (hopefully in January, should we survive the holidays!) and my color scheme is going to be red, yellow, black and white. I know . . . . that might sound kind of eccentric and wild for this pretty conservative mama . . . . but I saw some pictures in a magazine of an old kitchen that was updated with some jazzy colors and a little bit of wallpaper and it was stunning!
We have old wooden cupboards (well, they probably aren't THAT old, but they were painted blue by the previous owners of the house . . . . nice blue, but just TOO blue for me!), and I think a fresh coat of paint will really brighten things up in there. Then I found some whimsical wallpaper and border that has roosters with black and white checks . . . . and that will tie the whole color scheme together! I'll post pictures when we get it finished. Anyway, here are two pictures of my beautiful vintage red pitcher. The one on the top has been digitally edited into a watercolor, and the one on the bottom is the actual photo. There are white painted random "dribbles" all around the top of the pitcher, and it is white on the inside, too. Had to throw in some of my Christmas bells for a little fun! Won't this make a great accent to that redecorated kitchen?
PS I've decided to extend my Pay It Forward project through this coming week, so if you post anytime during the week, I'll get your mailing address and send you a handmade gift sometime in January. Hope to hear from you soon! Nina
