Magical Mariposey FREE applique pattern and tutorial
Trying to dress our kids in fun and fashionable clothing can sometimes be challenging. Everything is either very expensive and we are afraid our little darlings will get them all dirty and ruin an outfit that cost us the week's grocery allowance . . . . or else we find clothing that is practical and sturdy, but BORING!!! So, why not make up a quick, easy, and simple pattern that I could make up for my girls that would really brighten up a plain, white t-top? I looked around and saw the latest DVD sitting in our family room . . . and there was my inspiration! Butterflies and spring blossoms - what better combination for a spring design? I started with this butterfly, or mariposa, design for Annie's t-top and I've got the matching capris cut out, just waiting for me to whip them up tomorrow. I'll show you the whole outfit when it is finished.
Annie was in another one of her "moods" - can't wait for this one to turn into a teenager! She always wants to "model' whatever I'm making at the minute, but then as soon as I get it on her and whip out the camera, she goes into meltdown mode. Fortunately, Daddy was here to offer his "encouragement" and so we took a little trip out to the front yard to sit on the garden bench in the sunshine. That was before the winter storm blew in last night! So, I wrote up the tutorial and drew out the applique pattern, and decided that this one was so much fun, I just had to share it with you all. If you want to give this pattern and tutorial a try, just click on the link on the left sidebar and it should take you to the PDF file. That's what I've been told, by someone who knows way more about these things than I do! If you have any trouble, I'll ask her to help me figure it out tomorrow. You'll also be able to get this, for free, from YCMT and a few other sites later this week. And by then, I hope to have a couple more ready to share with you. So get ready to sew for spring, because it's on it's way!
