As I'm collecting ephemera for all my creative endeavors, searching through thrift shops, antique shops, estate sales, and local junque shoppes, I am delighted at all the vintage and retro "junque" that is available. Just the other day I discovered a shop where there were rows and rows of jars filled with antique buttons. So, of course I bought the biggest one and now I can't wait to get my hands on a couple more of those beautiful jars. And the buttons are so perfect for all of my projects! As a seamstress and quilter for many years, I absolutely LOVE buttons on everything. I use them on clothing, quilts and wall hangings, totebags, embellished boxes and even on journal pages. What fun!
I also came across some vintage hankies, crocheted doilies, and a few charming pieces of jewelry . . . . all to be used for my new collection of artsy "Snippets" . . . . glittery little bags filled with all kinds of art ephemera goodies! So sweet! With a huge collection of fabrics, trims, notions, lace, eyelet, buttons, and beads that I have gathered over my many years of quilting and crafting, this is going to be one fun project . . . . now that I have my sewing room back under control! I'm thinking of a "Snippet" swap . . . . embellished bags or envelopes filled with a variety of yummy little goodies to share with each other for all of our personal art projects. That sounds like fun! Want to play along?
